In brief
The proposal turns unused ground and the oversized roadway at the junction of Calea Moșilor and Armenească Street into a small neighbourhood park. The new pocket park brings trees, planting, places to sit and picnic, and the crossings are repositioned on people’s natural routes. The junction becomes more compact and safer, without changing the width of Calea Moșilor.
Current situation
The junction is visible and heavily crossed, but today it does not offer a real public place. Unused ground, parking and a large roadway dominate the corner between the two streets. The space links two areas with a strong identity, yet it is perceived mainly as a place to pass through.
Traffic, parking and access
The roadway takes up a lot of space, turning radii are wide, and the current roundabout-like arrangement does not bring a real benefit. Pedestrian crossings do not always follow the direct routes, and parking reduces visibility at the corners.
Existing vegetation
There are trees and isolated planting, but the vacant ground is not arranged and does not work as an accessible green space. Mineral surfaces remain dominant in the junction.
Historic and architectural landmarks
The square sits at the meeting of the old commercial axis of Calea Moșilor and the fabric of the Armenian Quarter. The built fronts, the houses and the historic routes give the place an identity that can be brought out without thematic decoration.
Housing and neighbourhood life
The area is predominantly residential, with services and small businesses at ground floor. The junction is present in residents’ daily routes, but it does not yet offer a shaded space for a pause, a meeting or a picnic.
What we propose
A pocket park
The unused ground becomes a small park with planting, paths and places to rest.
Trees, shade and planting
The new planting reduces the mineral character and makes the junction more comfortable in summer.
Places to sit and picnic
Tables and benches support short stops and meetings in small groups.
More direct crossings
The new crossings follow natural routes and shorten the distance spent on the roadway.
A more compact junction
Armenească Street is narrowed, and the inefficient roundabout is removed.
Why this solution
The questionnaire and the consultations describe the place as an important node, but one without comfort or a stable public function. People asked for more planting, shade, benches and safer crossings. The proposal uses exactly the underused surfaces to create a small park, keeping Calea Moșilor working and making the walking link with Armenească Street clearer.

- The width and traffic role of Calea Moșilor
- Car access to all surrounding properties
- Parking spaces on the adjoining streets, reorganised where needed
