The junction of Toamnei and Salcâmilor streets
The proposal reduces asphalt and turns the roundabout into a semi-permeable square, organised around the monument dedicated to the director Alexandru Tatos. A circular bench, trees and perimeter planting make the space accessible for rest, not only visible from a car. Car traffic is kept around the square, but it is calmed by a raised junction and speeds of at most 20 km/h.
The small roundabout is easy to recognise because of the Alexandru Tatos monument, but it works mainly as a traffic island. Cars circulate and park around it, and the link with the sidewalks is weak. The place has memory and identity, yet it cannot be used comfortably as a place to sit.
The square is a landmark for orientation and a point crossed on walks through the neighbourhood. People rarely stop in the roundabout, because pedestrian access is uncomfortable, and furniture and protection from traffic are limited.
The junction works like a roundabout, with access from several directions and parking on the edges. The roadway surface is large, and the centre remains separated from the sidewalks by the flow of cars.
The roundabout has planting that gives it a distinct character, but shade and planting are not sufficiently connected with sitting areas. The asphalt around it increases overheating and limits green continuity.
The bust of the director Alexandru Tatos is the central landmark and the cultural-memory element of the place. The circular form of the roundabout and the scale of the houses around it support a discreet arrangement, centred on this monument.
The square sits in a residential area, close to small services and cultural activities. Neighbours know it and use it as a landmark, but today they do not have a sheltered place for a meeting or a pause.
The radial composition and the circular bench integrate the bust into a space that is used.

The consultations showed attachment to the bust and to the withdrawn character of the place, together with the wish for more green, places to sit and less informal parking. The solution does not replace the identity of the roundabout; it makes it accessible and usable. The monument remains central, and traffic continues to work, but on a smaller surface and at reduced speed.
