The junction of Silvestru, Salcâmilor and Armoniei streets
The proposal frees the space in front of Sfântul Silvestru Church of cars and creates a pedestrian square with a clear view of the façade. North of Silvestru Street, a leftover roadway with no clear role becomes a second planted space, with a path and a bench. Between the two a direct walking link is formed, and parking is moved onto the adjoining streets.
Sfântul Silvestru Church is an important landmark of the neighbourhood, but the space in front of it is largely occupied by cars and crossed by traffic flows. Passers-by, parishioners and schoolchildren use the area daily, but a continuous walking route and comfortable public places to stop are missing.
The square is used for access to the church, the school and the homes around it, and also as a route between neighbourhood streets. Stopping happens only in places, near the church enclosure, because the outdoor space is dominated by parking and traffic.
Several streets meet in front of the church, and perimeter parking occupies the surface that could link the sidewalks. Local accesses must be kept, but the road profile and the junctions can be narrowed for safer crossings.
The trees around the church ensemble give shade and a valuable green backdrop. Outside the enclosure, planting is fragmented, and the leftover space to the north is not arranged as a public place.
Sfântul Silvestru Church, built in the eighteenth century, is the central landmark of the area. The memory of Father Constantin Galeriu, the school and the everyday routes of parishioners strengthen the community role of the place.
The area is predominantly residential and has a close relationship with the church and the school. The square is a place of daily routine and of ceremonies, so the arrangement must offer comfort without blocking access or occasional gatherings.
Cars are taken out of the central area, and the façade becomes visible again.
The new route joins Silvestru Street with Părintele Galeriu Street.
The leftover surface to the north receives a path, a planted mound and an integrated bench.
The trees protect the rest areas without blocking the view toward the church.
Parking is organised on the adjoining streets, and necessary access remains controlled.
The square received one of the clearest forms of support for reducing car pressure. People pointed to the need for shade, benches, safety and a better relationship with the church. The proposal concentrates these requests in two complementary spaces: one representative and open in front of the monument, the other greener and more relaxed, intended for everyday use.
